Former Everton player Aaron Lennon has revealed that. The club once had the opportunity to sign super striker Erling Braut Haaland. But the club’s management was blind to the idea. Which led to the football team’s current poor performance.

However, in the end, the big man Everton refused to sign the Norwegian. Who had yet to prove himself at the highest level. So he started to make a name for himself with Molde, Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund. And became the number one striker in the industry at Man City.

Thinking back to that day, Lennon still feels hurt because none of the forwards Everton bought in the future were good enough.

He told the BBC Football Daily Show:

“I even got to the moment when Haaland walked into the training centre with the manager Steve Walsh, and then into the physio room, Steve introduced the kid to me.”

“I thought to myself – oh my gosh, we have Haaland in the team. Is this Alfie? The kid from Leeds. Hopefully we can sign him -“

“At that time, I hadn’t heard much about him because he was only 15 or 16 years old.”

“After that, I never had the chance to see him again, even though the purchase price at that time was no more than 3 million pounds.”

“I think club owner Fahad Moshiri wouldn’t take the risk – but just imagine it’s painful to think that Haaland almost signed for Everton.”
